Circa 1900, this six sided Victorian cast iron lantern would originally have been used with candles. We had it wired it to take three lightbulbs supported by candle tubes. The lantern should be kept undercover and if it is to hang outside in a porch, please ensure your electricity agrees the position because of the exposure to the elements – otherwise it makes a perfect indoor lantern.
It still has all of the original bevelled, etched glass in good condition and each panel curves at the top – see photos in the gallery. The panels have the same abstract floral design.
The light measures 60cm from the hook at the top to the base, and if you include the chain which is attached to the original ceiling hook, the length is 108cm. The width across the light is approximately 47cm.
It can be viewed in Surrey by appointment and if arrangements can be made to collect it from us, we will pack the item safely and offer a discount on the price.
For customers in the UK we suggest a courier collection and if it is to go abroad, we suggest having a crate made and sending it via shippers to keep the glass safe during transit. Please contact us to discuss delivery.
