This is a beautifully made pewter chandelier with eight arms and the original ceiling rose (not shown in the photos – but a fine quality ceiling fitting).
The eight arms appear to be dragons with their heads holding the pewter candle cups, and their bodies curve to make the arms with the tails fixed to the central body of the chandelier.
The light is very heavy and in very good condition, and has been rewired to UK specifications.
It measures approximately 53cm in height and 60cm across, and we date it around 1900-1930.
The central column has been lightly burnished to bring out a pale blue tinge which was a popular effect at the time. The flash of the camera brings out the blue more strongly than it is. In reality, the central column is a subtle varying shade of pewter, lighter pewter and a hint of blue.
Delivery within easy reach of the M25 is possible, and viewing in Surrey can be arranged by appointment.
